The Seijitsu Shin Do Kan dojo and association was founded in 2006 with the goal of spreading traditional Okinawa karate earnestly and honestly. We were seeing the dishonest approach in martial arts and it was disturbing. The Fishers (Brandon & Stephanie) founded the Seijitsu Shin Do Kan to help in a small way to get back to what karate training was supposed to be.
The name Seijitsu Shin Do Kan literally means “House of the Honest Heart Way” which reflects our philosophy of teaching martial arts. From the heart, with care and honesty. We focus on the study, preservation and transmission of Okinawa Shorinryu Karatedo from the Kobayashi lineage however we do have influences from the Matsubayashi and Kyan lineages.
Though Fisher Hanshi started training in Okinawa Kobudo in 1992 we did not initially incorporate it into our curriculum on a regular basis. In 2009 we started doing that and now offer classes specifically in Okinawa Kobudo with a separate curriculum and ranking system from our Karate system. Very few organizations offer both Karate and Kobudo with separate ranking systems under the same organization so you don’t have to search out separate instruction if you want to learn both.
With the vast depth of information we have to offer we named the association Okinawa Karate / Kobudo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai to allow those who are interested to come in under our umbrella even if they did not start as a beginner with us. We do offer programs to transition into Okinawa Shorinryu Karatedo and receive ranking and / or add Okinawa Kobudo to your dojo.
